Case Study 1

CASE STUDY 1 | Year: 2018

Wind tunnel for aerodynamic testing

A leading international company in the production of safety devices for two-wheel mobility entrusted us with a unique challenge: the construction of a soundproof structure around a wind tunnel.

This machine, essential for testing product aerodynamics at speeds exceeding 200 km/h, generated extremely high noise levels that risked compromising working conditions in adjacent departments and administrative offices.

The request was clear: to create a safe, soundproof, and visually appealing environment capable of reducing both internal and external noise without interfering with the wind tunnel’s functionality.

The challenge:

The main challenge was to drastically reduce the noise generated by the turbine and air ducts, which threatened the quality of work in surrounding areas. At the same time, it was essential to limit acoustic impact toward production zones and nearby offices, ensuring a safe and comfortable working environment.

An additional complexity involved building an entire structure starting from the existing machine alone, integrating sustainable and safe materials. Finally, the solution had to align with a modern, functional design consistent with the client’s international brand image.

Adopted solutions:

  • Special 50 mm sound-absorbing panels made of rock wool clad in aluminum, with a corrugated external finish and smooth internal surface, combining durability and aesthetics.

  • Internal multilayer lining (35/40 mm) with sound-insulating and sound-absorbing materials, completed with 70 mm polyester fiber panels featuring geometric chamfering to enhance noise absorption and visual impact.
  • Additional enclosure for air ducts, built with our modular cast-aluminum structure, equipped with laminated acoustic glass sliding doors and filters of varying thickness for proper airflow dispersion.
  • Checkered aluminum platform to ensure safety and long-term durability.

The result:

The project resulted in a state-of-the-art soundproof cabin capable of:

  • Significantly reducing internal and external noise levels.
  • Integrating over 70% recycled materials, minimizing environmental impact.
  • Creating a functional, safe, and visually refined environment.

A one-of-a-kind international solution demonstrating how technology, innovation, and design can coexist.

CASE STUDY 2 | Year: 2018

Hydroelectric power plants

Two major Italian hydroelectric power plants required a complete overhaul of the soundproofing systems for turbines and alternators. Traditional solutions (glass wool and heavy metal structures) proved obsolete, bulky, difficult to manage, and no longer compliant with modern safety standards.

The client required an intervention capable of meeting three key needs:

  • Noise reduction below legally required limits.
  • Visual harmony with machinery and surrounding environments.
  • Ease of handling and maintenance for operators.

The challenge:

The real challenge was to design a modular structure that was both lightweight and robust, capable of delivering high acoustic performance without adding excessive load to the plant.

It was also essential to minimize machine downtime during installation and integrate practical solutions that would allow operators to carry out inspections and maintenance quickly and safely.

Adopted solutions:

  • Modular ISOL-AK panels: multilayer fiber/rubber panels with an external aluminum shell, 50 mm thick, engineered for high acoustic performance.
  • Modular load-bearing structure made of lightweight yet durable aluminum profiles, ensuring ease of assembly and disassembly.
  • Full customization: each panel was equipped with clips, handles, and double-chamber polycarbonate inspection windows to provide immediate access to displays and control instruments.
  • Aesthetic finishing: powder coating in the original machinery colors for perfect visual integration.

The result:

The entire structure was assembled in just over one hour—a record time that drastically reduced plant downtime. The achieved acoustic insulation met the most stringent standards, while daily operation became significantly easier: operators can now access turbines and alternators quickly and safely.

The final result is a robust, lightweight, and visually refined solution that represents a decisive step forward in soundproofing management for hydroelectric facilities.
